Review of Alaknanda:
Alaknanda’s one of those delightful localities that for me, had almost everything, just a stones throw away. It is filled with an assortment of snug DDA flats named after rivers and hills. Flanked by greens inside and out, the flats feels like peaceful islands away from the hustle of the busy streets around. There are several parks and gardens all around, and community celebrations everywhere, for all the festivals the country has to offer. One such to look forward to every year, is the Diwali celebrations at Yamuna Apartments – residents of each block come together each year to plan block themes for the annual Diwali Rangoli competition, and on Diwali night, the complex is an art and light delight.
The local Alaknanda Market’s your one stop solution for almost everything – from groceries, to tailors, to export clothes, makeup, fabulous shoes at a steal, and of course, golguppas and momos to die for.
The GK 2 M block market, and the CR park market are also just a blink away, if you’d like more variety, especially for the palate. Alaknanda however, has the old favourite Qureshis for delectable kababs and more, and Drums of Heaven for a Chinese assortment, to name just a few. Good gyms, beauty parlors, doctors, are also all available and easy to access, in and around the area.
If you enjoy forest feels, look no further, for the huge sprawling Jahapana forest in the area is just what you’re looking for- fabulous for a walk, or just to sit around. The Tughlakabad fort too, is not very far away.
If that isn’t enough, every Saturday, comes the local Saturday pavement bazaar, with stunning knick-knacks for the home, at unimaginable prices!
So overall, a lovely area to live in, with many little delights, just round the corner.
