Finland partnership to modernize Sassoon Docks
The Maharashtra government is partnering with Finland to modernize Mumbai’s historic Sassoon Dock using technology-driven solutions. The project aims to address operational challenges, environmental concerns, and hygiene issues at the busy fishing harbor. The modernization will introduce modular infrastructure and advanced fishing methods to improve efficiency, sustainability, and fishermen’s earnings.
Electronic Land records for rural and urban areas
The Indian government is set to launch a unified, nationwide electronic land records database to clarify ownership rights in both rural and urban areas. This initiative aims to streamline land markets, reduce disputes, and attract investment, aligning with broader economic reforms. The move is crucial for India’s manufacturing ambitions and infrastructure development, promising greater transparency and efficiency.
Upgrade for Delhi’s T2
Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 2 will reopen on October 26. GMR AERO led DIAL upgraded the terminal. Air India and IndiGo will shift 120 daily domestic flights to T2. The revamp includes self-baggage drop and autonomous aerobridges. There are design upgrades with better interiors and connectivity. Mechanical, electrical, and digital systems are renovated.
Rs. 77,000 Crores Railway Projects in North East
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced railway projects worth Rs 77,000 crore for the Northeast. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Mizoram’s first railway line, connecting Aizawl to Delhi with the Rajdhani Express. This connectivity will boost tourism and create jobs. The Bairabi-Sairang railway line includes 45 tunnels and 55 bridges. Refrigerated coaches will help local produce reach new markets.
Delhi’s 2041 Master Plan
Delhi’s real estate is set for growth with new policies and urban planning. Gurgaon and Noida grew due to Delhi’s land use issues. A new master plan aims to reorganize unauthorized colonies. Office space is increasing, with 5 million sq ft expected by 2027. Strong business confidence drives demand. The luxury residential market is also booming in Delhi-NCR.
Tesla Group to set up BESS giga factories in India
Tesla Group a.s. and SRAM & MRAM Group have signed a USD 1 billion agreement. They will establish electric vehicle battery facilities in India and other countries. Five gigafactories will be set up in India and 15 other countries. SRAM & MRAM Group will secure approvals and TESLA Group a.s. will oversee design and construction.
Investor interest grows in green power assets
Investor confidence in renewable energy is surging, driving up the value of distressed assets. Recent auctions of wind energy firms like Regen Powertech and Wind World (India) have seen bids exceeding reserve prices significantly, boosting lender recoveries. This renewed interest is fueled by India’s ambitious renewable energy targets and a turnaround in the power sector after years of struggles.
NHAI tightens contract norms to curb delays
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry of road transport and highways said the stringent conditions in various clauses under the request for proposal (RFP) will help to ensure that only technically capable and experienced contractors qualify for the implementation of national highway projects.
