Parliamentary Panel on Impact on Shipping

A parliamentary committee will meet to discuss the West Asia crisis. The impact on India’s maritime trade, shipping infrastructure, and seafarer safety will be examined. Ministries of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, External Affairs, Commerce, and Petroleum will attend. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar highlighted India’s strong ties in the Gulf.

Rs. 1,500 Cr pact for solar cell manufacturing

Sunkind India is venturing into solar module manufacturing. The company has established a 1 GW manufacturing line near Jaipur, Rajasthan. Commercial production is set to begin next month. To support this new vertical, Sunkind India has placed a significant order for domestic solar cells. This move aligns with government mandates supporting the local industry. At present, the company is into solar EPC projects and IPP projects for commercial and industrial (C&I) segments. The in-house production of modules will help the company execute its EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) projects and IPP (independent power producer) projects.

$10-15 billion worth of land needed for RE projects

India needs substantial land for renewable energy expansion. By 2030, approximately 7 lakh acres will be required for solar and wind projects. This land acquisition is estimated to cost between USD 10 to 15 billion. The country is set to significantly increase its renewable energy capacity, driving investment and development across various sectors.

Red Balloon company’s VISTA platform ascended nearly 25 km above Earth from Vijayawada as part of “Mission SANA”, carrying payloads from seven national and international partners, including propulsion technology demonstrations, biological experiment systems, onboard computing platforms and navigation validation systems. The company said all payload missions were completed successfully.

10-coach Hydrogen train between Jind and Sonipat

India’s first hydrogen-powered train is set to begin operations between Jind and Sonipat. This 10-coach DEMU train will run on hydrogen fuel cells, marking a significant step in sustainable rail transport. The Railway Ministry has granted approval after rigorous technical and safety testing. While operations are not immediate, all necessary compliance and verification stages are underway.

SW Airlines Innovation Centre in Hyderabad

Southwest Airlines has launched its Hyderabad Office, a Global Innovation Centre. This marks a significant expansion of its global business and technology operations. The centre will enhance reliable, secure, and efficient airline operations. It will develop next-generation solutions in artificial intelligence and data. Hyderabad’s role in shaping future mobility and technology is highlighted. Aviation giants Air India and IndiGo are cutting domestic flights between June and August 2026. High aviation fuel costs are impacting airline operations and commercial viability. Air India will reduce up to 22 percent of its domestic flights. IndiGo plans a 5-7 percent reduction in domestic capacity. These adjustments are a direct response to sustained high fuel prices.

Rs. 376 Cr flyover Inaugurated in Guwahati

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Flyover in Guwahati, a Rs. 376 crore project completed in 26 months. This 2.8-km flyover aims to enhance traffic management and connectivity in the city’s south-western region, benefiting thousands of daily commuters.
