Road Profiling 5 – This is part of the Road Safety Evaluation for ASSOCHAM UP-UK done by interns to carry out assessment of road safety measures at every 500 metres on roads of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

Road Profiling 5: An Introduction

Area/Location– Semra, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
Road Stretch– Polytechnic Chauraha to CMS Gomti Nagar Extension
Length covered– 2 km, approximately
Date and Time– 06 June to 14 June, 2026

Safe roads play an important role in the public health sector, which is concerned with accident prevention and maintaining safe travel on roads for everyone. Continuous observation of roads and traffic can help detect any underlying danger and make necessary adjustments in time. This periodic surveillance is carried out every week to assess changes in the roads, traffic, and compliance with safety requirements in the Semra locality of Lucknow.

Road Profiling 5: Survey Methodology

● Physical Field Observation: Direct visual assessment of road conditions, pavement quality, and traffic interactions at major intersections.
● Road Profile Assessment: Measurement and recording of road width, presence of dividers, streetlights, and traffic calming measures.
● Geotagged Photography: Capturing photographic evidence every weekend to document infrastructure gaps and traffic behavior.
● Traffic Observation: Monitoring vehicle flow patterns, speed levels, and peak-hour congestion trends during selected dates.
● Local Public Interaction: Brief discussions with residents and commuters to understand recurring safety challenges and local concerns.
